A Step-by-Step on How to Become an HFA-Certified Group Trainer
Learn the dynamics of training groups of people, class layouts, various class formats, leadership skills and more. HFA's Group Trainer certification will give you the tools to teach group training classes with confidence and flair.
In order to become an HFA-certified Group Trainer, there are a 2 courses that you need to take in a specific sequential order:
- Fitness Theory Course (a 32 hour course)
- Group Training Course (a 20 hour course)
Will I receive a certificate in the end:
You will receive a professional Group Training certificate upon successful completion of these courses. This will be your official certificate of completion. It will come to you in PDF format via email. Please save this to your computer for reference. Please note that there is a $10.00 + GST administration fee for re-issuing certificates should you lose your first issuance.

- the skeletal system
- biomechanics and applied kinesiology
- nutrition

- cardiorespiratory fitness and exercise
- communication and teaching techniques

- class formats

- music: beats per minute, phrases, how to use music to motivate the class
- about various equipment: how to use equipment and what exercises are appropriate for what piece of equipment
- contraindicated exercises in a group setting
